Molesworth TB eradication begins

Date: 10/08/2017

Source:

New Zealand’s biggest farm, the 180,787 hectare Molesworth Station, is part of a vast, mountainous landscape in the northern South Island high country. It is one of the last large farmed areas where possums and other vectors of bovine TB are still being brought under intensive control.

Molesworth is the focus of a nine-year programme of targeted possum control and wildlife surveillance beginning with the spring thaw.

The area’s wildlife and cattle should be clear of bovine TB by 2027.A dedicated page has been created at tbfree.org.nz for information and background, and newsletters for interested readers will be produced each quarter to report progress and preview pest control operations.

See more at the Molesworth Station page.
